What's the difference between North American and South American life?

Whats the difference between American Accent and Canadian Accent? Which is better to use for teaching Koreans?

  • I want to know the difference between American and Canadian accent and which is better to use for teaching Koreans?

  • Answer:

I agree. There are many different dialects within each country. The U.S. Midwestern accent is probably the most easily understood and almost all American News reporters have this accent either because they are from the area or because they've learned to speak with the accent. It is the most "bland" and therefore the most recommended among the media.

I met about 20 Canadians over a period of about a year. Their English was very similar to my Midwestern US English. Then, I met some Canadian Architect and I swear I could not understand what the heck he was saying, because he would talk with his mouth mostly closed and that made it very difficult for me to understand. An Englishwoman had to translate for me. I don't know where he was from, but, brother, it was gibberish. Sounds like you need to research this....

HI, there is only a small, slight difference. That is in the word "about" or any other words with that vowel sound "ou". Americans will say it the normal way that you know, and Canadians will say it "ow" like "a-boat". But other than that, they are mostly the same. Both accents are fine to teach in.

Hehe, there isn't just one American or Canadian accent. Both are large countries covering thousands of miles. North, south, east, and west accents will sound dramatically different. I've heard that the midwest american accent is one of the easiest english accents to understand.

honestly, not too much. Only at times the American accent may have more sharper accentuation on different words compared to Canadians for example in Toronto. ex American= sawrry, Canadian= soory. As an korean american, i would say the canadian accent simply because pronunciation for it is much smoother
