Jobs in Rhode Island?

Can you believe those failures of teachers got their jobs back in Rhode island?

  • Answer:

I don't know anything about the general quality of that teaching staff. What I do know is that for ANY group of students to do well, four groups of people need to come together and do their part--The students, the teachers, the parents and the administration/school board. In RI, the students were failing in large numbers. The parents and administration/school board immediately placed all of the blame on the teachers and none on themselves or the students. The students even came out in force and said that it wasn't the teachers' fault that they (the students) refused to work. The popular thing to do right now seems to be to blame the teachers for everything that goes wrong. Until the parents, students and admin/school board steps up and takes their fair share of the blame (ie: doing what needs to be done for the benefit of the students), nothing will change. You could swap out those RI teachers with an all-star staff of the best teachers in the country. If the parents, students and administration didn't change along with it, nothing would have changed.
