    hey there! when choosing a topic, I would suggest picking things that effect your life as you know it now. For example, you're in seventh grade, pick a topic that you and your peers (classmates) can relate to. For instance, you think that lunch should be 15, or 30 minutes longer than it is, or, you think gym is the best class because....things like that. The next step is to brainstorm ideas that support your opinion. Example: "lunch should be extended an additional 30 minutes because students are not really getting enough time to eat and relax during this time". Or....Gym is the best class at school because, our coaches are terrific teachers, and really motivate us to be active and live a healthy lifestyle." Above all, choose something you are interested in writing about, and/or, something you can write about. Start jotting down some ideas on a piece of paper. Before you know it, you may look back on your notes and discover that you really have some great material to write about. Good Luck! ;)
