How do I figure my final grade and Separate grade for each semester?

If I had a C one quarter, and an F the next, what would the final grade be at the end of the semester?

• The title is quite self explanatory. I'm taking English class and this English class only lasts 1 semester (there are 2 semesters total, and in each semester are two quarters). If I got a C in the first quarter of school, and an F or D- in the last, what would my final grade be averaged out to at the end of the semester? I'm just trying to figure out if my essay is worth doing, I can't find a spec of info on it anywhere ಠ_ಠ!

  Totally depends. Does your school have midterms? Usually most schools (not all so don't quote me) range a semester grade on a 100% scale. What i mean is the two marking quarters + the midterm grade add up to 100. Well since you didn't give much detail, i'll make some numbers up to show you what I mean Say you got a 74 the first marking quarter and a 58 the next. Multiply both numbers by .4 (aka 40%) and you get 29.6 and 23.2 That's 80% of you semester grade. If you add it up, it's low, but don't panic because you forgot the other 20%, the midterm grade. Now lets say you try EXTRA hard and study like crazy and you miracuosly get a 93% Multiply 93 by .2 (20%) and you get 18.6 So add up all 3 numbers together and you get 71.4 round down to 71. That's your semester grade. C-. But typical high schools use that method (marking quarter 1 +2 = 80% of your grade and midterm = 20%) If you high school doesn't include midterm grades in your semester average then add the numbers of your two grades (lets use 74 and 58 again) and divide by 2 so 74 + 58 = 132 / 2 = 66% So a D....maybe a D+ if your teacher is considerate and will weight it a point (67 = D+) I hope I helped some
