Is it hard becoming a Bio teacher?

My biology teacher told my language arts teacher that I'm anorexic?

  • Sorry if this is kinda long but it's a long story.   Okay so I'm a freshman. My school does block scheduling, so we have two academics and two electives each semester. So last semester I had biology & geography and this semester I have algebra & language arts for my academics. Well, my biology teacher last semester was the freshman volleyball coach. I got put on the JV team because I was really good so she wasn't my coach. We had to fill out our physical forms with any diseases or disorders that we had, so of course I had to put that I was diagnosed with anorexia nervosa in 7th grade because I was. But I also put that I've been in remission for 8 MONTHS because I have been. I've worked so hard to get to be in remission and I'm so proud of myself. But all the coaches got to see the physicals for some reason and so my biology teacher knew. It was a big freaking disaster because she treated me different from the other kids in my class because of it. It was awful and I was so happy when the semester was over so I could leave it all behind. So I started this new semester fresh. But then I found out my biology teacher & LA teacher are like bestfriends. So sure enough, on like Tuesday my LA teacher was very hesitant to let me go to the bathroom after lunch because she probably thought I was gonna go purge. And Thursday she passed out candy everyone for getting 100's on our tests and she stared at me until I ate mine. This is getting very ridiculous. My LA teacher isn't gonna treat me normal now, which is really all I want is to have my past behind me. I've worked so freaking hard to get to where I am now and I didn't do that just to let my eating disorder keep defining who I am to everyone. I am almost certain that this is all because of my bio teachers big mouth. What do I do?

  • Answer:

All of your teachers know - and will know for your entire stay at the high school. We are *supposed* to know. Schools arent like the general public - we have a responsibility to care for students in the absence of their parents. When there is a medical issue with one of my students, I get briefed on it yearly prior to the school year starting. I have had students with heart issues, brain damage from a car accident, burns, epilepsy, and yes anorexia. It is something we are supposed to know about. You just may be making things bigger than they really are.

That's because you will never be normal. You should thank you teachers for showing that they care enough about you to look out for you health. Get over yourself! Eat a ham and cheese sandwich!
