I want to start a tutoring business?

• I'm 14 and really good at Algebra and I have realized that other people aren't. I want to start a tutoring business! So I have a few questions. Should I have it at my house (the closest library is 20 minutes away). How should I advertise? I was thinking of one person a day so I can't have too many and if I do how should I go about this? Also, what time should I do it at where people would actually come? How much should I charge for 1-2 hours. I won't do a monthly charge, but a charge when they go to it. I'm teaching Algebra and Pre-Algebra so high should the cost be. Sorry this is so long. Thanks in advance!

  Sounds like you just want to tutor in your spare time and get paid for it. You don't need to have a real business or anything like that. You are over thinking it at this stage (when, how much) - just find someone to start with to confirm this is something you can be actually good at and want to do. Being good at something and being good at teaching it aren't the same skill. Step 1: I would suggest to talk to your math teacher and say you want to try out tutoring and if there is someone they think you could help. You probably want to try it without charging any money at first. Step 2: Be safe a) let your parents know you are doing this b) start with people you know c) always do first few sessions in school or library Step 3: When you are ready to charge money you can start by simply taking payments in cash and if some people (parents) want to pay you by check talk to your parents about opening a bank account. How much to charge will depend on how easy you think this actually is and how much people might be willing to pay (this will depend on the area you live, etc).
