What qualifications do you need to be an elementary teacher?

What qualifications do i need to be a teacher.?

  • im just starting year 11 at school. and want to be a teacher but i dont know what college corse to take next year and what qualifications i need? any help xx

  • Answer:

You need to apply for A levels, first. If you want to do secondary teaching, make sure your A levels include the subject you want to teach. If you want to do primary teaching, you will be much more likely to achieve your goal if your A levels include Maths and English (Language, Literature or Combined), and possibly a Science subject, too. After that, you'll have to go to university. Take a degree in the subject you want to teach (if it's secondary teaching you're looking for) or in any subject that interests you (for primary teaching). After that, you'll need to do a PGCE, which is a post-graduate, one-year teacher-training course.

You will need an A* - C grade in maths, English and Science at GCSE and then A-levels. After that, university for a BEd or a degree course and a postgrad (PGCE). As for what AS / A-Levels to do, it really depends which subject(s) you want to teach. It's really important to get the right subjects - if you want to teach maths at secondary school for instance, you are generally expected to take Maths at A-level. You will have a Connexions worker coming into your school specifically to give Careers advice so get yourself along for a chat with them. they have lots of information and will be able to give you good and sound advice. Good luck!

1) you must learn to have an attitude of feeling superior to everyone 2) you must learn to demand respect from others, but not give it in return 3) you must learn to go ballistic if a student forgets something (be sure to focus on the students who seem very unsure of themselves, they are an easy target and probably won't report you) 4) you must learn to let students know just how flabbergasted you are when they are having a hard time understanding something

You either need to do a B.Ed at university or a Batchelors degree in a particular subject followed by a P.G.C.E. course.
