How hard is an art director's job?

How screwed over am I for choosing art as my major when it comes to finding a job?

• I live in the south, I initially wanted to teach at a university so when I was 18, i thought "just get your masters but get your bachelors first and magically a job will happen". Right now i'm 21 and am realizing that the jobs for teaching art at a university are non existent. Plus, my adviser just informed me that you can now get a PhD in art and that's even more competition if i don't waste more years in college to get the unachievable job position that i initially looked for. how hard is it to find a job teaching k-12? from online searches, it's impossible in my state.. but am i wrong? is it hard finding k-12 art teachers? i'm thinking of not going to graduate school because my dream is a dead end and teaching k-12 instead and taking a year of 2 to get certified to teach etc. but if you think that is a dumb idea and that there are no jobs in the k-12 field for art then I was thinking of randomly taking that 2 years that i would have to get my masters or to get certified to teach, and getting my associates as a physical therapy assistant instead. what do you think I should do? don't say "what ever makes you happy," that's unrealistic. What will make me happy is a concrete and attainable job position with good health benefits and weekends off. A job that I can support a future family with.. as for everything else, it doesn't matter anymore as long as i have that.

  Learn to cook basic meals. Cleaning is easy to learn and easy to do if you have an ipod. Being artistic will come in handy when the children arrive, you know for arts and crafts.
