Should I homeschool my kids?

Parents, do you homeschool your kids?

  • How is your relationship with your kids if you do? I homeschool my three boys and love doing it. I have a very close relationship with all my kids since I've homeschooled them.

    What is up with desixraja's answer? I am a US citizen, and I ans another 7% of the US population homeschools our kids. My kids and I are very close. They "know" me. I don't have to tell them when I am tired, sick, or even in a bad mood.... they don't think I am perfect, they are aware of my shortcomings and my strengths. I feel I know them just as well. When you homeschool your kids, you teach by example more than you teach curriculum... the kids are watching, everything. If you are honest and kind, you can't help but having a close relationship with them.

I'm not a homeschooling parent, but I was homeschooled, and I can tell you that I have a great relationship with my mom.

I will be homeschooling my children from PreK to 12th grade. I was homeschooled for the high school years and I loved it. It was hard work but I was way ahead in college. I got to skip all the basics because I was prepared while others in public school were way behind. They couldnt' even halfway read and write. Parents....you need to check out your child and make sure he/she is getting taught and not just getting by. It doesn't matter if they are getting A's or not, what are they learning? If you have just 1 child the Abeka homeschool curriculum is great but if you have more than that it gets expensive and you might have to choose a different curriculum.

Unless they are teachers or professors themselves, no, they dont have time to homeschool thier kids. Most parents in the US, do not homeschool, because of the time as well as the quality of education. Again, the ones that are are mostly teachers or college professors themselves.
