What do you think of this substitute teacher?

I would like to hear what you think of this substitute teacher my daughter had today... This teacher had it easy for her last class of the day, as they were finishing up a movie with notes. After the movie was finished, the substitute proceeded to not know what to do. My daughter has had this substitute many times before, and she not been able to come up with something for the students to do before. Well, she walked out of the classroom for 15 minutes, came back got on her phone and the whole class could hear her, the class was out of control throwing pens, water bottles, laying on the floor and everyone was texting on their phone. But wait, it doesn't stop there. The substitute whipped out her iPad and played games on it for the next half hour. My daughter sat in class for and hour straight with nothing to do. Then, the substitute whipped out a book-read, then left the class again for ten minutes, finally ending with eating food and letting students go and disrupt other classes. This substitute could of: 1. went on her ipad or computer and read some trivia engaging the class...isn't that what school is for?. 2. actually taught the class something that she may have learned. 3. not leave, not make personal phone calls in front of the class, not play games on her ipad, not read personal books, and defiantly not read personal book and let students go to other classes. Where are tax dollars for schools going? Even my daughter's real teachers are on their laptops constantly, and not teaching the class what needs to be taught. My daughter is in school to learn, not goof around for 4 out of 6 hours of the day. If I would've acted like that substitute teacher at my job today guess what? I would have been fired.

Answer:
Talk to the principal about it. I agree with you. Children are at school to learn and the teachers are reponsible for it. Report her.

I agree that what the sub did was not good. But, before coming down so heavy on the sub, how about questioning what lesson plan the regular teacher left behind. If the regular teacher left no plans other than a 15 minute movie for a four hour long class, then the regular teacher has some explaining to do. Most subs have an arsenal of things they bring to a substitution situation, but that comes with experience as a sub or as a teacher. The real and first responsibility for what a class does under a substitute rests with the regular teacher leaving a plan sufficient to keep the students engaged for the length of the class time.

Call school. It happens to me and that person can't sub.

Clean up the grammar and punctuation in your statement. Then file a formal complaint with the principal. You have legitimate complaints. Take some action.

That's a horrible substitute
hello people
That is awful. Substitute should be turned in.
