Is it hard becoming a Bio teacher?

Is becoming a teacher hard !!!!!!!!!?

  • HI, right now in school we are studying about careers and things. And for me I really what to teach religious education, but one thing pesters me , I want to know from people who have been teachers or are teachers is becoming a teacher hard . I am getting best in the class grades at R.E . Help me ( I am really passionate about this and will go to extreme lengths to get such a job but what is the probability of me getting it )

  • Answer:

Becoming a teacher is not hard, it is relatively easy. Staying a teacher is what is hard. Teachers have a high burn out ratio and end up not liking what they are doing or they realize it is not all they thought it would be or they can't live off the salary that teachers make.

It depends what you mean by 'hard'. You will need good grades at GCSE (including Maths and English at c or above). Then you will need 3 good A-levels. then you will need a degree in re;igious studies of some type, at 2:1 or above. Then you will need to pass a one-year Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE), which is a course with a heavy academic workload as well as teaching practices (which you have to pass). Then you will need to find a job and pass your first full-time year as a Newly-Qualified Teacher (NQT) so that you have full QTS (Qualified Teacher Status). RE is not really a shortage subject, so you should think about what other subject you would be willing to teach in order to widen your job opportunities. Maths is always good. First concentrate on getting good GCSEs. Your RE grade is only relevant in that it will allow you to do RE A-level, and your A-level grades are only relevant in that they will allow you to get a university place. Teaching itself is an exceptionally hard job and only those who really enjoy working with young people survive. If you are one of those people, then you will find it to be incredibly rewarding (in an emotional sense, not a financial one). If you do not 'get a buzz' from being with young people then the job can destroy you (I have seen this happen too many times). You probably have a good chance. I want to teach religious education too. Basically, you want to do as good as you can in school and make a high GPA in classes pertaining to your major. (I wouldn't be extremely concerned if you made a low B or even a C in a math class... it doesn't have to do with your major). Good luck and don't stress out! Obtain good study skills, and if you get a job, try to get one tutoring or something for experience.

I'd advise you to do a social sciences / sociology degree with a large amount of RE in it rather than pure RE. The reason? Well at the moment RE is a compulsory subject so every school has to employ RE teachers. But society id becoming more secular and more parents are withdrawing their kids from RE and worship. 10 - 20 years down the line RE might not be a compulsory subject.

Becoming a teacher is not hard - lots of schooling but I loved it! It was all about a topic that I loved - teaching kids. The job is hard - no going around that - but so fulfilling.

BECOMING a teacher is in many ways easy. Teaching is hard. There are needs for math and science teachers.

MacIke

It's easy.
