What is a good weight for doing parkour?

What should I do to start doing parkour and how can I teach myself?

  • I saw a video about parkour at school it was very interesting and I want to give it a shot. What should I do to get started? I know ill need to be physically fit and im a little over weight so I know ill need to lose some weight' but I live in mount pleasant iowa where my friends older sister does parkour but shes to busy with school to teach us. So I guess the main question is how can we teach ourselves?

    well first you have got to make sure that you stretch and warm up, before beginning any training. My advice in getting started is to make a warm up sheet that has exercises you can do along with stretches (you can find a lot of youtube) and start out by teaching yourself the four basics being the PK roll, Vaults, under-bars, and wall ups. if you can learn those four things you can already do a lot. But don't get discouraged because you will feel slow and sore the first month or so. thats just because your body probably isn't used to moving like that and your still honing you PK vision. after a few months or so try to see if there is a group around your area or gym that has some classes. its always good to train in a group to prevent you from getting hurt and discouraged. also know your limits and don't try to go to fast otherwise you will hurt yourself.
