This is tricky. I am a non-parent teacher and I don't think my not having children makes me less aware or conscious of children's developmental or educational needs. That was what I was trained to do and have 2 degrees in. However, there are many people who believe I can't possibly understand...they are wrong. Also, in not having children of my own, I am in my classroom far more often as I do not need to take days off for my own child's needs. I rarely have a need to take a day off work at all as I save trips and fun activities, as well as many Dr. appointments and such for after school or school holidays.
