How can I become a Pediatric nurse?

Can a person become both a pediatric nurse and a speech therapist?

  • I am going back to school to finish my last 2 years of college. But I am having trouble deciding and I was wondering if it's possible to be both pediatric nurse and a speech therapist. If possible would i be able to get both degrees in 2 years?

    If you already have your BA in speech, communication, psychology or any other related field than you need to go ahead and get your Master in Speech pathology. Then you can be a Speech pathologist/speech therapist. If you want to be a pediatric nurse you have to get into a nursing program and go from there. My best friend is a nurse, she has an IQ of 135 ( average is 100) and it took her 4 years for nursing ( I guess it takes "normal" people 5 to finish up all the nursing prerequisites and such). I guess you could do that if you are some sort of child genius who graduated college at 12 or something, however for us "normal" people no, it is not likely. p.s. If you already have 2 years down... Is it for your BA? & What is your major now? If you switch majors it may take you longer to finish college because you might have to take prerequisites you would not have to had otherwise taken. For example my other good friend was majoring in business and she had 1 year left for her BA, then she decided she wanted to be a nutritionist and now she has 3 years left. Make sure you know what you are getting into before you make any drastic changes.

I'm sure you could, but then what? Which would you practice? You're only delaying your actual choice. Do some interviewing with people in the field and find out what they like/dislike/etc. Do some volunteer work. That can help you decide real quick.
