Are there any free job training programs?

Need help finding a job and training,have a learning disability.Know of any programs in Michigan to help?

  • I have a friend who has a learning disability (doesnt claim for it) who is having a hard time looking for a job. We live in Michigan and Michigan Works cannot help her because she graduated last year, goes to college full time and her parents make little over $40,000. My friend cannot find a job because she has a speech problem and a very hard time learning new skills. I havent been able to find a program that could help her with her disability and to find a job. Does anyone know of any programs I could help her look into?

Does the Macomb Intermediate School District (MISD) have any programs available to her? I know that when I go to McDonald's I always see learning disabled people working there. In fact, I have seen people with physical disabilites working there and other places. You mention that she is NOT receiving any SSI or SSD from the government. I do think if she were, then her case worker or agency would help her with finding a job rather than going in alone and trying to present herself as a regular person would. I know the economy is very bad in michigan. That may very well contribute to the fact she cannot find employment very easily. encourage her. Tell her, that there are jobs out there for her but with this rough economy it is only going to make it harder. How about applying for a job at the college where she goes to? I am sure they have student services where they can guide her or recommend her to.

her high school should have referred her to VOCATIONAL REHAB...they should be able to provide supportive services no matter what her income--such as locating a job, interview techniques, a job coach if she is an adult--it doesn't make sense what you are saying about mich works--when i google it --it looks like it is exactly fro people who have graduated form high school and are looking for a job
