How difficult is to become a Speech Pathologist?

Can a stutterer become a speech pathologist?

  • would you go or send someone you know to a speech pathologist that stutters?

  • Answer:

It's possible, but they don't come highly recommended for obvious reasons. I would consider it laziness on the speech pathologist's part if they didn't take the time to get it fixed.

To be licensed as a speech pathologist, you must be free of any speech problems or to be what is called a "good speech model". I knew a speech pathologist who overcame a severe stutter. His treatment is what interested in the profession. There was no hint of his former difficulty.
