How Many Day Till Xmas In The Uk?

FUN DAY OUT for a 14 year old AUTISM CHILD?? UK.?

  • hi. i have a 14 year old brother whose has autism. i absolutly adore him and he is the most loving, kind, funny a little gem of a lad. he is just like any normal boy his age. he loves bowling, cinema, eating out, playing ps2, wii and nintendo ds. he is now bound to a wheel chair and can look after himself. but he does have a lack of understanding and communication. he knows how to do the basics of everyday life and i was wondering if you can give me an idea on what and where i could take him for a fun day out that doesn't burn a hole in my pocket after xmas! also i'm in the northwest, uk peeps. thank you in advance for your good suggestions! x

I have an autistic 14 year old brother too (Aspergers Syndrome)... And he'd rather not be taken out by myself xD But if he did... Then probably a Games Event or convention? For example, when WoW, Wrath of the Lich King was released, there were different Events going around the country. Also the way you are putting him across, "AUTISM CHILD" isnt very... respectable. Im sure if I passed him in the city centre he would seem completely normal.

Take him to the cinema to see a movie of his choice and then take him to somewhere like pizza hut Whatever you do decide to do have fun x

I reckon you sound like a fantastic person and im sure he'd be delighted to do anything with you. what about a treasure hunt? you could dot clues round the house/garden (maybe include pictures if he finds understanding a bit difficult)and help him solve them.put a little prize at the end. if your ever up in the north of scotland on your hols, theres a fab adventure park called landmark. good luck with whatever you decide to do xx

my son has an ASD, hes only 3 so I know only too well of abilities and difficulties. with regards to activities youre better to stick to what you know he loves and what he is happy to be around. Theres no point upsetting him by introducing something new that might be overwhelming. Just have a fun day of doing his fave stuff!!

I am sorry that I'm not very familiar with where you live but - I do have some ideas that may be in your area. 1 - Do you have a train station or museum - I know that the students that I work with ador trains. Maybe a short ride to the next town and back. 2 - Heavy equipment - tractors, bulldozers, steam shovels. Any of that around. 3 - We have some rec places in the states - in MN it's called 'Pump it Up" - it is indoors and all inflatable amusement stuff, slides, moon walk, climbing things - don't know if you have anything comparable there but again - kids love it. FYI - here is a slide show for the one that is near me http://www.pumpitupparty.com/StoreSlideShow.aspx?StoreID=99

Aren't you a sweetie? My 11 year old and my 6 year old both have ASD and like exactly the opposite things. But they both like McDonalds and the World of Glass Museum in St Helens??

Maybe somewhere like drayton manor, a few rides. a zoo. stuff like that. They also do gaming conventions. seeing as he likes gaming. Just have a look around in shops for leaflets for things going on in your area. If all else fails, cinema, park, meal out. stuff like that is always good. hope you have fun.

take him to a skating rink or bowling or something

You sound like a really great sister to have and you should be proud of yourself for spending time with your brother as children with autism can be a handful sometimes so well done. You could wither ask your brother what he would like to do or as he enjoys several things like bowling etc, you could write on some paper bowling and pizza, cinema and pizza etc and put them in envelopes and then ask him to choose one and that is what you do.
