I have found out that I have both. I have never been tested before. I have just finished my first year at uni and found it heard. All I want to know now is what happens next. Do I get support and funding from my uni. Also want to know other peopls experence and what happened to them.

Answer:
Well the first thing is to go to the disability office. They will tell you what accommodation your eligible for. You might be approved of note takers, recording devices (to tape your classes), extended time for testing, use of RFB&D (Recording for the Blind & Dyslexic) recorded books, scriber and reader during exams. (scriber is someone who you will verbally give your answers for an exam and they will write your answers for you.) After you have all you accommodation in order the disability office will give you packets to give to you professors, you can give it to them after class or during office hours. Make sure to explane to your professors the problems you may have in that class.

You probably won't get extra funding, but you should get some accommodations. Contact to the Disability Services offices to set up an initial appointment and where to send documentation. I would imagine they would allow you to take your exams in their office with extra time. You might be allowed to take your hand-written exams on the computer, typing directly into Microsoft Word (or something similar) if your handwriting is bad. If your handwriting is bad, you might also get a fellow student to copy the notes or, if the professor types his notes for PowerPoint, s/he may simply print out the notes for you. Think about what would help you the most. Then ask for the ones that would be the most meaningful to you. **If learning a second language is difficult, you might ask for American Sign Language to be considered your second language. My sister did and she loved it. Another language... but not written.... much, much easier for someone with dyslexia!!

Hi i am an adult dyspraxic and i am just finishing a college course so i can sympathize with you. I dont know how severe your problems are and i cant help you as far as what happens at uni but i would suggest getting in touch with other dyspraxic/dyslexic people knowing that you are not alone and getting mutual support form people with similar problems has helped me a lot. Try Yahoo groups lots of support groups on there or contact the Dyaspraxia Foundation

I don't know what dyspraxia is, but as far as I am concerned, you will go on with your life. Believe me, you have nothing to worry about. You just get a regular job and go on with your life. As long as you don't have crude, awful friends, and abusing parents everyone should like you the the same. Instead of asking what's next, start doing what's next.

well...you'll get a free lap top that's for sure! You can also get help (if you want it) with extra tuition and stuff in learning support. Well done you for getting through your first year without this extra support x
