What do you need to do to become an ultrasound technologist?
-
Right now I'm in school for Certified Medical Assisting but I want to further my education. I'm very interested in ultrasounds but I don't know what I need to do to become one. Do I need to go to school or get a certificate?

Answer:
Either a tech school (usually 2 yrs) or a BS degree in Diagnostic Ultrasound. There are also private schools like Sandford-Brown. I think the tech school is the way to go, less expensive and the pay is about the same as having a degree. Which ever way you, only attend a school that is accredited by CAAHEP, otherwise you will not be eligible to sit for the exams administered by the ARDMS (American Registry of Diagnostic Sonographers. Here's a list of accredited programs.
