What is an early childhood intervention specialist?

Intervention Specialist Major OR Early Childhood Intervention Specialist Major?

• I goto Ashland Universiity and I wanted to know if I would more marketable as a Intervention Specialist Major ( covers moderate-intensive needs and grades k-12) or by doing Early Childhood Intervention Specialist Major (covers mild-intensive needs and age 3- third grade) thanks!

  If you haven't yet done internships, practicums, etc. you might want to make your decision after experiencing the various age groups. Every teacher seems to have a "niche" which they absolutely love and become quite proficient in that area. For example, some are fantastic working with middle-schoolers while others. such as those at the high school and preschool levels couldn't even begin to think about teaching at the middle-school level! It's truly a personal choice and that's a key component in overall job satisfaction. Either area will make you marketable as there is a demand for special education teachers in general Personally, I see a lack of qualified/certified Early Childhood Interventionists, so I would say that area of specialization would make you even more marketable in specific regions.
