How To Prepare For Ceed Exam?

How should I prepare for the CCNA exam?

  • I'm thinking of taking the CCNA exam but I'm unsure of how best to prepare for it. There's a CCNA prep course at a local community college that costs $2600 which is pretty steep but I believe it's cheaper than most other CCNA courses in the area. I could also self-study which is obviously cheaper and more flexible. I'm kind of lazy so I'm worried about doing the self-study method and I'm also worried because I've heard its a difficult exam and I don't know how long I'll need to study to pass the exam. I'd appreciate some advice from people who've taken the exam. Thanks.

Yeah you have to be ready and dedicate yourself to studying the stuff for a good 3-5 months it might take of studying like 5 hours/week. If you can sit yourself down for 1-2 hours a day for maybe 5 days a week, that'll be great. I used several books to self study, all the latest CCNA books from Cisco Press like: Official Exam Certification Guide CCNA Commands Quick Reference CCNA Flash Cards And the CCNa practice questions from Exam Cram. Also you'll want some good network simulator software, boson.com has the best one I know of, CCNA one is under $200, http://www.boson.com/Product/ccna-640-802-cisco-network-simulator.html They also have a CCNP one for $350 that just has more options. So yeah, if you thoroughly read and study those books, and be able to confidently answer all the practice questions in those books, which in all is probably around 1000 questions, and practice everything the book teaches in a simulator, you'll probably be fine. heck you can even skip the simulator and just "pretend" to do the stuff, practice typing the commands in notepad, but a simulator would be best... I think its important to be able to confidently answer 500+ practice questions because the exam is only 50 or so questions, so if you can answer 500+ questions and know exactly why the right answer is right, and the wrong answer wrong, you should do fine on the exam. The other thing is practicing configuring stuff in a simulator, the exam has simulator questions in which you need to know how to configure things like NAT or ACLs for example, or know the commands to find the information that the question is asking about.

The following is the best CCNA self study called trainsignal, it is teached by a CCIE so he knows his stuff. These are videos and you can study at your own pace which is good because if you forget some things, you can always pop in the video and go over what you need to learn better again.. http://www.trainsignal.com The best software to practice router comman is routersim (You will see Labs on the exam) which is a software with labs and you get to configure them, they have a ccna and a ccnp lab versions, you can buy either one. If your looking to get CCNA and CCNP, go with the CCNP software because it has the ccna and ccnp all together. If your just planning on getting the CCNA just buy that. http://www.routersim.com
