What are some of UNICEF's main accomplishments since it has started?

How and where do I get started?

  • I have wanted to be a physical therapist for some time now. But I think I have found my calling. I have worked with children with autism for many years. I have have taught one of my children sign language and finally how to speak, etc. There is a joy in the little accomplishments that are soo big for me and them and I love sharing that with them and there parents. I realized I can make a difference in children's lives. I want to work with special needs children but I don't know where to start? I know I will be going to school and everything but what are the first couple steps? Getting a job with out college for now. ANY advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone!

    at colleg you take teh classes prescribed by your major you can start as a special ed major for your undergrad--just be sure to take science (bio, anatamoy) as your electives than you can work on becoming a pt post grad you may be able to get a job in Eearly Intervention while stillin college as an aide--or as an aide in a school also in the social service field--with adults or as a repsite worker (babysitter) through an agency like ARC physical therapists DO work with kids with autsim and other disabilities---mostly in schools

I think you should look into being a speech language Pathologist. It is one of the most rewarding fields. Check out ASHA.org for information on schools and requirements. You can also still be a physical therapist in a special needs school.
