What is the high algebra?

What will happen if I dont pass Algebra and don't graduate high school? Please read ):?

  • I'm 17 and a junior in a college prep/charter/independent study school and I do pretty good in all of my classes besides math. I used to be 'home schooled' but my mom quit teaching me in about 3rd or 4th grade do to her drug addiction,so when i got flung in high school there was (and still is) a MAJOR gap missing in math. And I only have this and next year left to pass algebra.... What will happen if I don't graduate high school because I couldn't pass basic algebra1? I have such high standards for myself that I cant accomplish because my math skills are extremely below average. I wanted to become a medical examiner, nurse, police officer or work in animal control. What are the chances of me getting one of those jobs if I don't even graduate with a diploma? Can a GED help me to achieve one of those jobs? I'm just feeling like a total failure and wanting to give up school altogether...

You could just take Algebra in Summer School and get credit for the course and get a Highschool Diploma. I remember failing Spanish, i was never really good with other languages. You think after 10000+ years of civilization we would have have 1 unified language by now. Anyhow ya, summer school. Ask if you can take after school coaching from the teacher or from the community college so you don't have to fail and take summer school. As for your chances I have no idea. I took AP courses so it wasn't much of an issue. You should never give up on school. Sure its tough, oh man Medschool is insane. Residency with 36 hour work days. Was maddenning. But it all pans out in the end. Life may give you Lemons, but you can always make Lemonade.

I can tel by your determination and focus on your future that you will be able to accomplish your dreams. You still have plenty of time to learn more about the algebra you are taking. First- find out if there is any tutoring offered in your school.. Second- spend part of the evenings reading and rereading the math book at home... And third, take some time out to actually contact someone in the job field you are interested in, actually speak with a supervisor and explain your hopes and dreams- they will aid you by telling you what I just told you- don't give up. I have faith in you:)

in the US, you can stay in high school through age 21 if you don't graduate... ask your guidance counselor about a basic skills course... do you have any health issues as a result of the neglect? it maybe possible to get classified for special ed under Other Health Impaired..for a physical or psych issue....and get a special ed math class for a year to catch up and then take regular math.. the school should have started you a year or 2 behind....did they ever assess your educational level--did you have any record of achieving a certain grade level through homeschooling... if you meet all other requirements accept math...talk to the school about just coming back for 1 math period the following year.. do you have any ability to access online home schooling? maybe you can take math at your level there over the summer or after school.. but yes, you can achieve anything with a GED...it will be a little harder..you not be able to get into a mid level or higher college..but you can always start at a public college--and once successful there--you will have a better chance at getting into a better college for a masters degree or even transfer for a bachelors... for most jobs a bachelors from a public college is good enough the medical examiner may be the only issue--but that is when go to a better college for your post grad studies

they keep giving you math untill you pass or pm school. your suppose to have atleast 3 yrs of math(i think).other than those two options, you get summer school. Just try as hard as you can and "KISS ***". teachers like that kinda stuff, when you seem interested. dont care what others think because its your life, not theirs. about the ged thing. im pretty sure you can get one of the jobs you listed but the work is horrible. my mom works in the nursing feild(two jobs) and most of her sisters too. my dad works at north shore(medical company) as the computor guy. all i can say is, the nursing is bad and hard work(the way they describe it when they talk about it). My dads job isnt so well either. Point is, my parents are busting their *** off so me and my siblings can have a better life than them. So strive for college and pursue a better career. try the medical field, a nurse is a good job(my moms a nurses aid, aka the grunts) and a doctor is a better job.
