What characteristics does an autistic person have?

i'm doing a drama performance and we're doing our play on an autistic girl and i have no idea how to act as one! what characteristics do they have? mainly one worded characteristics please! also, this play is not humour.

It depends as autism is a spectrum disorder. I will break it up into what functioning levels you may want to portray. If you wished to portray someone with moderate autism then just choose some symptoms from both lists. All: 30-70% have intellectual impairments 25% have seizures 62% are frequently bullied Stimming (hand flapping, rocking, staring into fans) especially when stressed or excited No eye contact Monotone/unusual voice Inability to understand body language and facial expressions Sensory overloads Dislikes being touched/ loud noises (may trigger sensory overloads) Dislikes change Doesn't understand non-literal language Misses Jokes Severe social impairment Obsessive Severe: More severe general symptoms Non verbal/ very limited speech May bite and hit self or others (severe stimming) Not responsive to communication (although repetition may get a response) Doesn't attempt socializing High Functioning: Milder general symptoms Normal intellect Normal speech (apart from abnormal voice) anxious attempts socializing May appear less Intelligent than they actually are May have an encyclopedic knowledge on areas of interest pedantic It is difficult to make these one worded answers and still keep the meaning.
