Avdice on stand alone midwifery an child nursing modules in uk/irelend distant learning?
-
ok, i am a registered nurse in the process of emigration to usa. in order to have my degree the same as american nurses i am required to study two modules to have added to my degree, one on child nursing the other on midwifery. these have to be in the form of an essay (formative assessment) which i have to pass at grade C or above. My own unversity does not have an appropriate course for me to do, therefore i am looking nationwide for a module i can sit on each subject. the subjects can be anything related to these two different areas eh the midwifery course can be for exmaple a essay on breastfeeding, or c-sections, etc, the child one for exmaple can be about child cancers, emotional deelopement etc. there is no restrictions. it can be diploma or degree level (i have a nursing degree already) and no word limit. my problem is i am really struggling to find a school in uk that can provide me with an appropriate stand alone open/distant module, that isnt too difficult or high a level (like masters degree) or without a huge wordage 3000 words is about good. they all seem to be really long modules. can anyone tell me a good school of nursing that can help provide me with a suitable module. i am paying for it myself so funding is not a problem. it is a real struggle, everything seems to be really big long modules and i am getting disheartened by the whole thing. i just need a smal simple module to write about a topic which can then be added on passing, onto my nursing transcripts. anyone please, have any ideas? would really appreciate some help many thanks louise

Hi there, I have no idea if this would be any good for you or not, but the university of bedfordshire runs a DipHE in Antenatal education in conjunction with the nct. There is an obstetric exam within the course and an infant feeding essay (although the essay is a reflective personal piece) NCT also offer a breastfeeding councellor DipHE through the same uni which may have a more specific module. Maybe they could advise or adapt something for you?
