What are the steps to becoming a radiologist and is it worth it?

Become a Radiologist?

  • I have an applied science associates degree, which i majored in diagnostic medical sonography, now i would like to be a radiologist, so my question is, do i already have the first 2 years down to becoming a Rad or is it a different degree all together...also what are the steps i need to take to become a Rad?

  • Answer:

A radiologist is a medical doctor. To become a physician, you would need to get a Bachelor's degree from a college or university. While getting that degree, you would need to complete the courses in biology, chemistry and physics which are required for medical school admission. You would then need to complete four years of medical school and a residency in radiology. You may actually be asking about becoming a radiology technician. It requires a two-year or 4-year degree. The requirements are different, but there may be a few courses that are similar to those required for medical sonography. You should find a school offering that program and find out what you would need to do. Maybe a few of the courses you have taken would count.
