Collecting Unemployment benefits in the state of MA and applying for SSDI for my autistic 2 yr old son.?
-
i have a child who is almost 2, diagnosed with autism. I am currently collecting unemplyment and have an ssdi case open for my son with autism. My question is this: will collecting unemployment benefits effect the amount i am approved for and if so how much will they take. I am told that my son cans ssdi benefits would be $788/month. I collect $240/wk on unemployment. Anyone know what my ssdi payment would be?

Answer:
unless he has an extensive work history already, you are apply for SSI, not SSDI for him...there's a difference in eligibility finacially yes your Unemploymentwill affect it---it is consdered unearned income....if it were emplyment income (earned) there is a higher income threshold..stupid, but that's teh way it is
