so bascially now the reasons i belive i may have ADD is because no matter what i do i cannot concentrate on my work and i wont do it. i cant get anything done no matter how much i want to. i am also very disorganized and forgetful. And im not stupid, most people belive im an intelligent person. However i am i little lazy i think because that is what i have always been told but not im not so sure. I want to do well in college i really do but its like i get distracted and i feel very stressed out. I will also get started on alot of stuff and have problems finishing things. even if it will hurt me and its very important. Im also very disorganized and i also cant stay motivated and feel like im doing a million things at once or absolutly nothing and i have terrible time management skills and no sense of time. Also is it possible that this disease can become worse with time becuase i feel like these symptoms are become worse. Please help i dont know what to do and im still in HS so i dont want to tell my mom about this. Can i just go to the doctor by myself and get medication? im 17? and idk i feel like taking meds might be bad and i might become dependent on them or somthing.

Ask your doctor for a referral, and get tested - once you have a proper diagnosis, you can discuss your options as well as look for alternatives. Unless it took you forever to write this, I doubt you have dyslexia - it sounds more like a concentration disorder like ADD or clinical depression (a brain chemical imbalance, not just "being depressed"), and there are lots of things you can do for those that do not entail taking drugs - although some medications can be great temporary tools. There are also schools that specialize in courses to help people with different learning styles - here is an excellent school that may be able to refer you to a program in the UK, if that is where you live, or perhaps you may choose to hop the pond: http://www.landmark.edu/ Bottom line is that you know you are struggling, and it doesn't need to happen. Find out what exactly you need to do, and find resources to fix it - they exist, and your future will depend upon getting those organization skills. It will make all the difference in the world.
