Is majoring in Elementary Education hard?

Education certification without majoring in education?

  • I'm currently a psychology major and i want to pursue a graduate degree in applied behavior analysis and work with children with autism. I think eventually I might want to pursue a Ph.D in some branch of psychology, ABA itself, or perhaps special education. My question is more present-related instead of looking ahead to a doctorate program, but could I take a test to get certification in special education even without majoring in special education? I'm not considering a change in major, but if I'm able to take the test even without majoring in education, i'd look into it in order to boost my resumé and look better. Otherwise, it's no biggie. Just curious! Thanks! (p.s. i go to school in pennsylvania, but live in new jersey, if that makes a difference in whether i can or can't test for certification)
