What college courses should I take to become a bioengineer?

Do I need to take a set number of college courses to become certified in Special Education?

  • I currently hold a BA in Elementary Education (EC-4 Generalist) and am certified in Texas, but I have had the hardest time getting a job. I know the economy is rough, but I didn't think it would be this difficult for teachers...I want to get my SPED certification to expand my qualifications as an educator, but I am unsure as to whether or not I need to take a set number of college courses to do so, or if all I need is to study and take a certification exam, like I am about to do for my 4-8 Language Arts certification.

  • Answer:

Yes, there is a prescribed path for those with recent El. Ed. Certification to obtain a Sp. Ed. Certification in Teaching in most states. This includes a certain number of credits from a prescribed list of courses. It may also include additional exams. First, contact your state department of teacher credentialling. Explain the process that you have recently undergone for El. Ed. certification. Then ask them how to proceed. They will provide you a list of requirements and a list of universities that provide the Sp. Ed. certification training that you seek. Then, contact the university and get their specific list of courses. You will probably find the school that you have recently attended on the list. Then proceed to enroll and complete the required courses.
