What are the simple differences between engines?

What are the main differences between the Soloviev D-30F6 and the Saturn series of jet engines?

  • I know the Saturn series have been used in every Su-27 variant since their creation and that the D-30F6 were used in the MiG-31 which is a high speed interceptor (much faster than any Sukhoi) and were used in the Su-47 which was a built as a demonstrator for advanced technologies and to test that reversed wing idea. so does anybody know if they work in significantly different ways? what advantages to both engines have compared to each other? thanks.

  • Answer:

following the quick search, it is obvious that the D30 is a tonne heavier and produces about 30 percent more thrust, plus it has been optimised for supersonic flight. bottomline> the "reversed wing" is actually being called "forward sweep" just sayin
