Computers made my college life a whole lot easier, especially in College Composition and Technical Writing, due to Spell/ Grammar Check. With the use of computers I was able to finish the class with an A, and maintain a near perfect GPA, despite not being able to write a single sentence that made much sense. I was also able to do most of my research from my home, via the internet, without having to live at the library and neglecting everything else. I was also able to graduate quicker due to the fact that I could take classes over the internet and take classes when I suppose to despite working full time, versus having to wait another year or two, due to schedule conflicts. I was also able to use the internet to research, and get a better understanding of the subject topic that I was studying at the time. Many professors, in many universities, will post the lecture topic on the internet (In Adobe Form) and I used their notes to help me get a new/ fresh prospect on the subject material. Cheating, maybe. However, these extra notes did help.

The exposure to technology and the new advances that it has made. Research, projects done individually or by a group, reading programs for low readers, adaption for dysgraphy students, adaption for blind and visually impaired students. Educational games that support the lessons that have been presented my teachers, reading programs that allow students to advance to a higher reading level or math level (elementary). Developing fine motor skills and eye coordination.

If you need a counterpoint....computers sometimes have bogged down education...people mean well when they donate computers and software to a school...but then the school has to install it and teach the educators how to use it, and hire folks to fix all the glitches. I did 13 years of PTA volunteer work and saw this a lot. The uses of technology in education have to include support money and people.

I am an Intervention Specialist and have been for 24 years. I teach at the Middle School level. My students abilities vary greatly but pretty much all of them LOVE working on computers! Fortunately, a parent of a former student has access to computers and laptops and donates them to my classroom. Right now all of my students have access to a laptop. There are TONS of educational computer programs out there at all different levels. It is great because the students do not always require a staff right there beside them to let them know if their answer is right or wrong. The educational programs present things in a fun, yet educational way. My kids are always excited to get their paper work done so that they can get out their laptops. During their free time, they are allowed to play games on them.

they say that for some reason kids seem to focus more if instead of learning by looking at notes written on a white board, they look at a powerpoint they learn it better. also, they do tests to see how well we are doing in some subjects online to either save paper or time. things like that.

computer increases interest in learning one can combine audio, video, animations, sounds, make it colorful text for teaching

SDT

The whole remit.
