What is the legal working age in Ontario?

Programs for teaching/working with disabled people?

  • I am going to university next year and am want to get some type of arts degree, history, french, international development, and canadian studies are what i'm looking at right now (with hopefully a minor or possibly double major in music). I am also interested in teaching or working with disabled people, of any age but especially children. Are there any undergraduate degrees geared towards this? I am looking for a bachelor's degree, although I would also consider a diploma after getting a degree or through a joint program. I am located in southern ontario but am willing to go anywhere in Canada, the US, or really anywhere in the world.

You have some great varied interests. One thing you may be interested in is music therapy. It doesn't have to be your main career. I just saw this week a woman who worked with autistic children. She was very good and the kids loved it. Some of the kids normally wouldn't stay in the groups except they were there the whole time. She sang songs from a list of songs the children picked, she had them play a choice of instruments, and she had them color along with the music. It was a beautiful thing to see. You could have a degree in special ed or have a degree in something else and then take special ed classes as a minor. I am sure whatever you choose to study you will be great to do with kids also. Good luck!
