How do I get Sallie Mae to STOP harassing me with countless phone calls?
-
I have NO income, I am an unemployed college grad. Many times spoke to ppl letting them know this and they still continue to call 6-10 times a day and have been doing so for about six months now. The only reason I was able to make one of the payments is because of tax return money. I received a letter recently stating they can take legal action against me as well as stating I owe the full amount of my private student loans. The federal jobs I placed in deferment. They claim I dont qualify for a forebearance because I have already did it twice. A forebearance would only make my account current for like a month and they would go right back to the harassing calls. Help!

Answer:
Are they not giving you the option to apply for a hardship deferment? It's different than a forbearance. That is usually what they do when you really can't pay. But you have to talk to them or they will take legal action. Hardship deferments usually last as long as the hardship, ie unemployment.

Huh...where's a suggestion: pay off the loan. I bet you don't qualify for forbearance. To solve your problem you can start off by getting a job. By the way, they're not harassing you. They're calling to tell you that you have loan(s) to be paid off because the grace period is over You won't be successful in finding anyway of them taking legal action against or the so called harassing phone calls. It won't work. Sallie Mae can take legal against you. They will, by the way.

Maybe you should try to make small payments or try to talk to them and tell them you don't have a job. Their nothing really you can do well their is something pay that bill well you can Pray about it.

Well, they can take legal action on you, but if you have nothing for them to take... it's not going to matter. If you want to stop the harassment, send a registered letter stating that you are not working and you have nothing to pay them with. They will take legal action against you. They can garnish your future wages... and of course, your credit is going to suffer horribly. However, if you can't pay, you can't pay. You'll have to accept the legal action. Let them know in your letter that you do not want to be notified by phone anymore and they are welcome to send you the information of the legal action being taken.
