Modoc Rail Academy Vs. National Academy Of Railroad Sciences?

Financial Aid for a railroad academy?

  • Where can i find help for financial aid for a railroad academy. (Modoc) Can i use fafsa for it or is that only for college students? And help is greatly appreciated

  • Answer:

First, you would need to find out from someone at the Modoc Railroad Academy if they have someone who oversees applications for financial aid by potential students and talk with that person, if he/she exists. You will find a phone number for the academy at the bottom of this web page: http://modocrailroadacademy.com/map.htm The FAFSA (Free Application For Student Aid - http://www.fafsa.ed.gov) is just an application from which schools take the information to help their financial aid staff determine what amount and what form of financial aid they will offer to applying students. The FAFSA asks for a Federal School Code number so that the information can be provided to the schools the applying student wants to have consider him/her for financial aid. This is the link to the web page for searching for the right code numbers: https://fafsa.ed.gov/FAFSA/app/schoolSearch?locale=en_EN I used it to see if there was a code number for Modoc Railroad Academy. I did not find one. If the school does not offer any financial aid, and if you do not have the funds readily available, you may have to go to your bank and find out about your eligibility for an educational loan. If you are currently employed in the railroad industry and wish to earn some certification that will result in an increase in salary and/or job duties, you may be able to claim the cost of the school as an employment related expense as an income tax deduction. However, since I am not a tax specialist, I recommend you talk with someone who is to find out if that can be done when you file you income taxes for the year following your Modoc Railroad Academy enrollment. Sorry, I cannot give you a definitive answer and only some direction to where you may find an answer. Librarians--Ask Us, We Answer!
