Scholarship on leadership an community service...?

  • Okay so it says at the university i am applying to "The recipient will be chosen on the basis of leadership qualities as demonstrated by involvement in extracurricular achtivities and community service and academic standing." I have done a lot of leadership activities at my school. I am the head of a club at my school that competes and is funded by the newspaper, I am part of my schools grad council, i am in sports, part of the school play and have a job but I don't really do any community service...would this mean that I would unlikely be considered? If I joined something now and only did it for a month or so till the deadline, would you think that is good enough??? My grades are also in the mid 90's so would that bring me a step above the rest/make up for my lack of community involvement??? Could I also write about community service that I did in junior high but stopped in high school???

    It sounds like you are the ideal candidate for the scholarship. You should apply for sure! Write about anything you have done and make sure you get one of your teachers to write you a good recommendation letter. Even if you think you might not be suited, you should always apply!
