If I get accepted into UCLA, am I eligible for financial aid based on needs?
-
First off, my state of resident is NOT California, so I do not qualify for the Blue and Gold Plan. But, my parents only make roughly $35,000 a year. Will I qualify for financial aid, covering almost all of the cost? I'm just worried, because if I don't get scholarships or have most of my school paid for, my dad is forcing me to go to the Naval Academy. I do NOT want to go into the military for my job, but they want me to go because it's free, and they're not paying for my education because I have 4 other younger siblings. It's not fair, because I told them I'll get student loans and pay bills, like normal people but he screamed and threatened me... so if anyone would like to give me advice on financial aid covering mostly all costs in CALIFORNIA that would be greatly appreciated ! (: Also, I want to go to California because 1. It has been my childhood dream to be able to go there, and 2. I'm trying to be famous, so I thought California is a good start. Thank you so much for reading, and just to let you know I am a Junior in HS. Thanks again, and any advice is welcomed!

Answer:
Since you are not a resident of California, you have to pay out-of-state tuition for UCLA. As long as you are a US citizen or eligible non-citizen with a valid social security number and green card. You should be able to file for federal financial aid. If you qualify for grants and/or loans or not depends on your family income, in which you'll need your parent's help filing for financial aid as they have to put in their tax return information. If also depends on your actual enrollment, and tuition cost. My best guess is that you may be able to receive some grants, but not the maximum. You will qualify for loans and may have to rely on loans to cover for most, if not all of your tuition at UCLA.
