What is a college refund check?

College refund check? What to do with it?

  • When I transferred to my comm. college I had to pay a little over $700 for tuition and then another $440 before October. I haven't paid those $440 and I received a refund check in the mail for $942. I know that you usually receive refunds when you originally paid too much but this is obviously not the case. I can't call today because they're closed and I'm sooo tempted to cash it. What should I do? Can it be a mistake? Also, even though I was supposed to pay in October, when I checked my balance online it says I owe $0, or nothing. Please help!!! If I do cash it and it is a mistake, will I get into trouble?

  • Answer:

Wait to cash it. Call your school's financial aid dept Monday morning and ask them about it. If you cash it and you still owe them money, you will still be required to pay it to them.
