How can I get money for college when I have bad credit and cannot receive financial aid?

Apply for student loans, they are not based on credit and have a lower % rate than a personal loan would. Additionally, you do not have to start paying them back until you are out of school for six months. However, there are certain rules for attending school on a less than part-time basis. My suggestion is to stay away from on-line sites except for the government websites. Think about making an appointment with the financial aid office for the school that you are hoping to apply to. Ford Federal Direct Loan Program...it has a consolidation program. If you are in default (which will indeed affect trying to get student aid), it will almost immediately pull you out of default once you sign up. It's a wonderful program. There are student loans that do not look at credit. Talk to the finaid office, because there is even a student loan that gives you MORE money if you are denied outside loans. Best advice is talk to the finacial aid office in your school.

Depending on your field of study, you may be able to get a job which offers you tuition reimbursement. You can still take one class at a time, work to help with your credit debt and for the employer's commitment/dedication to their staff. There are various types of grants you may qualify for, as well.
