Do student loans go to the school or directly to the student?

Student Loans that go to student not school?

  • I'm trying to pay back my school for some tuition left from last term, so that I can register for classes this fall. Most loans I've seen or have send the money to the school and it doesn't use it until the term starts but I need to get the loan now, so that I can pay my school so they'll let me register for classes. I owe them a little less than $1,000 and when I get my financial aid I can pay the loan back off but idk of any student loans or any private loans that will let me get the money now instead of sending it to the school. I thought about trying a regular private loan so that I could just pay it back when classes start in the fall but I'm not sure if that's the better option financially. So I just wanted to see what might be a good way to go about it.Thanks~

  • Answer:

You can get a private loan that will pay the money directly to you. Do beware of borrowing from loan sharks. Interest rates can be astronomical. It may pay you to take a second job for a few weeks to cover this money. Your bank could give you a fixed period overdraft.
