How hard is it to get into NYU?

How much and how hard to get into is NYU?

  • I'm moving from Australia to Manhattan in a few years to do modelling and university over there and my older brother is moving with me. I would be studying Journalism at uni and would want to be an intern at a magazine and eventually work at a magazine IF modelling didnt work out (im hoping alot that modelling will) Im just curious as to how hard NYU is to get into and if you know, how hard Columbia is to get into as well haha but mainly NYU and how much NYU would cost for a Journalism degree. I will also be doing my post grad at Harvard, soooo how much would that cost roughly altogether? :)

  • Answer:

Typical univesity in the USA is at least four years, to get a bachelor's degree. With what is happening to magazines and newspapers now, "journalism" is not an attractive career, at least not for making a living at it. And modeling is pretty much a full-time "job" just trying to make a go of it, if you don't alrady have experience and exposure, wher you are now. You couldn't do both of these things at the same time. I am not sure that magazines even have "intern" positions anymore, since they're struggling to even stay in business, let alone take on new workers. Check the websites for NYU and Columbia (bothe very "selective" I believe) to find out costs but I suspect their tuitions, alone, afre several thousands of dollars per semester.
