Transferring to a 4year should I live on campus or rent my own apartment off campus?

• Hi I am transferring and graduating with my AA in the spring. I am only 20 so not to much of an age difference if I decide to live on campus. I know it will however be a little different from the freshman experience. Yet, the university I am applying to have housing options on campus and near campus. The option near campus is actually about $3000 less than living on campus. However, I will have to purchase my own food and pay for my own transportation. I live at home now and I purchase my own groceries and pay for my own gas. So, this will not really be too much of an issue. However, I live rent free! Also, both housing options require that you live with 3 to 4 roommates. I would like a roommate but I am a non smoker, I study every chance I get and I dislike too much tv and loud music. Plus you must have a twin bed for the college dorms. I don't think I am going to enjoy sleeping in a twin bed because I have a Queen size bed. However, I enjoy socializing with students and participating in activities on campus. Even more I hate commuting to school! I am not into the whole rule thing and I have a problem with people invading my space? How were your college experience on or off campus? Do you guys think I should live on campus or try to find an apartment off campus?

  Living off-campus is much cheaper. Living on-campus ensures that you are able to regularly meet people and take part in social events. It's a great social opportunity. I've done both, and would definitely recommend spending 1 year on campus before moving off-campus. But to each their own.
