Question about out-of state tuition?

A question about UMass Amherst in-state tuition?

  • Hi, my name is Cyril and I applied to the University of Massachussetts for their sports marketing direct program and was accepted. I haven't enrolled yet, as admission is for next fall (2012) and I don't know if I want to go to UMass Amherst yet. I recently found out from someone that UMass has a benefit where if your own state's state schools don't have a major, you can receive in-state tuition from UMass, even if you don't live in the state. Can anyone who is knowledgable about this matter give me more information about it? I reside in New Jersey so regularly, I'd have to pay out of state tuition but sports marketing isn't offered at the NJ state schools so would I qualify for their in-state tuition? Any links to this benefit would be greatly appreciated as I can't find anything. Thank you.

  • Answer:

While this organization does not include your state.. what you are looking for is a similar type of common academic market http://www.sreb.org/ Why not contact Fin Aid at UMass... tell them that you heard about the possibility & you want to know where to get info & if it could apply to you

Other answers

You are most likely referring to the New England Regional Students program. Unfortunately, New Jersey is not a participating state so you would not be eligible for the discount from UMass Amherst even if your major qualified.
