Why is the cost of living for a college student so high?

The cost of living--College student?

  • I have two living options. option one entails living with a roommate, 4 ppl to a bathroom, once a week chores, once a week-cooking teams--cook for 17 ppl--- (and cleaning kitchen), once a month house meeting. option two entails single room, and 2 ppl to bathroom. HOWEVER, it is $1200 extra for the entire year. Which do you think is better...I really would love to save money, but a part of me does not want to deal with the headache of the chores, the cooking, and the deadlines etc....should i just suck it up?

  • Answer:

its only $100 more a month. really, thats just a drop in the bucket compared to what your probably already paying and taking out in loans.

That extra $1200 seems like it could save you a lot of effort and free up your time, however if you get stuck with a crappy roommate that 2 person single room can seem like hell. It might be better to live in the first option if you are an antisocial person and have trouble making friends and don't plan on working. If you plan to work during college option two is the best choice. It's not uncommon for people to get a single dorm all to themselves during college. That's the marginally big buck option 3 that I give. Although you should live with roommates the first year or two of college just for the experience of it. It's really up to you.

hey You should try this web site http://AdviceForEducation.info As far as I know they are the best college finder online, and they are free. hope that helps

personally, i believe option 1 is better.. you will have more chores and stuff to do, but it does entail you to meet a lot more people....also, $1200 is lot to add on. especially if u already have other expenses such as tuition,books,food,...etc.

Even if you go with option 2, you'll still have chores and cleaning and cooking to do. Unless you want to be the slobby room mate who leaves the place a mess for other people to take care of. I would go with option 1, school is expensive enough, and I would want to save as much as possible.
