Do you have to apply to a college before applying for FAFSA?

I'm applying for college for the spring semester, I'm just starting to apply for fafsa, is this really bad?

  • I graduated from high school

  • Answer:

Just because you're not attending fall semester doesn't mean you can wait until now to apply for spring semester. You should have applied a long time ago; back around January 1st 2008 or as soon as possible to that. Because you're applying so late you're not going to get all the aid you could have gotten. State grants have probably been squeezed dry right now so you probably won't get anything from your state and given how close it is to the fall semester most financial aid has already been handed out so you're not going to get much for spring. (And, no, just because you're not doing fall doesn't mean you get what you could have gotten for Fall for your Spring classes.)

Its not bad, the sooner the better... if you were trying for fall, it would be cutting it close. Since you are applying for spring, now is the perfect time. You have already missed the priority dedline. The longer you wait the less money you will get. So, do it now...
