How much do two years at community college cost?

Can I gain residency by moving, paying rent, utilities, and attending a community college for two years?

  • I'll be a high school graduate this June, and I'm going to California. If I attend community college for two years, and pay rent & utilities, obtain a drivers license...(all that) that whole time, can I transfer to a four year university as a resident and pay in-state tuition? And yes, I'm aware of the high cost of rent, and how much community college in California is. Thanks for your help!

  • Answer:

No, it's not that easy. You cannot establish residency while attending school even if it's community college. Also, if you are under the age of 24, single with no kids then your state of residency will be whatever state your parents reside in.
