How do i get my student loan out of default?how do i find out the amount that i owe?

i had to drop out of college when I was pregnant with my second child due to complications with my pregnancy. I didn't I know that I needed to put the loan into deferment so now I want to go back to school I can't get another loan until i get that loan out of default. So I need to know what i need to do to get the loan out of default

Contact your lender and ask them how to get out of default. If you do not know who your lender is call 1-800-4FEDAID and they will give you a number to call. If it is a federal loan you can usually do what is called "Loan Rehabilitation" where you make about 9 consecutive, on-time and reasonable payments and they pay off the old loan and issue you a new loan. This new loan is not in default so you can get federal aid again.
