Am I eligible to receive any grant from FAFSA?

If I receive a pell grant after submitting FAFSA will I receive other aid for things such as living expenses?

• I recently enrolled in cosmetology school and they told me that the pell grant will cover $3900 of the entire $ 5000 tuition. But they said I will be responsible for the rest $1000 of which is due up front on orientation day in 1 week. I can't afford that. My student aid report said I qualify for up to $5500 in "pell grants and other financial aid". How can I find out exactly what I'm getting and when?

  The student aid report is not an official award letter. It says "up to" because $5550 is the maximum pell grant. However, you did not qualify for the maximum pell grant you only qualified for $3900 (everyone's SAR says "up to $5550" but not everyone gets that much). So, if that's the only grant on your award letter from your school then that's all you're going to get. You should have also qualified for student loans up to $5500 (student loans are the "other financial aid" mentioned). So, contact your school's financial aid office and tell them you would like a student loan.
