Need help fixing flute?

I need a new flute. Are there programs that help fund?

• I have a beginner flute. I need a step-up flute. $1000-$1500 is a lot of money... I was wondering if there are any scholarship programs out there that could help. I'm actually not bad... I'm a freshman and got a really high chair in this thing at a nearby college... 7th chair in the 2nd best band (out of 3 bands, and about 30 flutes) I will be getting one eventually... but it won't be until next year and this girl in band who is my only serious competition is getting one this week. I'm kinda stressed about it. (I only beat her by 4 chairs at the college thing) So if anyone can help or give me some advice I would be unbelievably grateful.

  I don't know if there are programs out there like that. But I would just save your money for a better one. Also don't be in a rush to buy a new flute. You have time to save money. I suggest you keep working on the flute you have especially since you say you are getting one next year. I have 2 flutes and the one I love the most and can get a better sound on is a beginner Yamaha flute and my other is supposed to be a professional Selmer Omega. I think you should just focus on excelling on the flute you have and save your money. I mean there may be programs out there to help, but probably not for someone who already has an instrument. I also noticed you said a girl you are in competition with is getting a new one. Is this why you are in a rush? Because the flute doesn't make the sound. It's the player. It could be the best brand the world has to offer but it doesn't mean the sound is going to come out perfect. But if you really want to buy one soon, I suggest craigslist, or eBay (I bought 2 of my instruments from there). Buying used will be a lot cheaper than buying a new one and you will still get a great instrument.
