How long does Fafsa pay for education?

Before I apply for loans, is there any other help I can get to pay off college? Have done FAFSA and TAP. - NYC?

• Hello! I'm 19, and I live in New York City. I am enrolled at a 4 year private college, I am majoring in nurse anesthesiology. I had felt a bit frustrated because it is expensive so I had planned on transferring to a two year (community college) but I am now thinking of staying at my current school, I like it, the teaching, the attention, and what I am getting does fill in for what it costs I guess. As I am the only one at home who has made it to college I have very little information on what help I can get or if I have already received all the possible help to pay off my education. Each year costs $40,000 I am owing right now $18,000 after what FAFSA and TAP has covered for me, so being fair, I guess I am being helped quite a lot, but just for the knowledge of it, are there other things I can apply to could cover the rest or some of it? Otherwise wonder if taking out loans to pay off $18,000 each year will be too much for me to pay off later on (which is my main fear).

  have you tried to apply for scholarships? I know that maybe a ton of work for a "maybe" but its is surely worth it if you are awarded.
